Deleting a student out of a class

  1. Log into your teacher account and click on Account Info.
  2. Click on Class Information to view your existing classes.
  3. If the students currently in your class may be using Book Adventure in the new school year, but with a new teacher, click on View, which is one of the options displayed to the right of each class. This will display your class roster along with the passwords for each account. (This will be handy to print and have available for the students to be able to access their existing accounts once school begins, and reassign themselves to another teacher's class.)
  4. If the students will not be using Book Adventure in the new school year, or if you have finished printing the display with the account passwords, you can then click on the Edit link to proceed to deleting children from your class.
  5. Once you are in Edit mode, you may view all of the students in the class again, but with links read "delete from class." Now you may select the children one by one, to delete from your class.
CAUTION! - If you do not delete the students one by one from your class, prior to deleting the entire class, all of the student accounts will automatically be converted to home accounts (which link to parents, not teachers) and this can not be reversed.

Creating a new class

Log into your teacher account and click on Account Info. Click on Class Information to select from two functions for creating new classes:

-      Select "Empty Class" if you would like to create a class that has no student accounts automatically generated. Students will need to register themselves as "School Students" in order to be added to this class that you're creating.

OR

-      Select "Whole Class" if you would like to create a class as well as a specified number of generic student accounts. These generic user names/accounts are automatically assigned to this class.

Creating new student accounts

  1. If you selected to create your classes as an "Empty Class," your students will need to register as "School Students" in order to be added to this class that you've created.
  2. The registration form will require your students to create their own unique user name. (Hint: Adding some extra characters to the attempted user name will help with selecting a user name, but do not exceed 12 characters.) Additionally, the registration form will also prompt your students to enter the "class name" and the "teacher's last name," in order to join the class.
  3. If you selected to create your class as a "Whole Class," the website will automatically create a specified number of generic student accounts. These generic user names/accounts are automatically assigned to this class.
  4. The generic user names/accounts should be assigned to your students. Initially the password will be the same as the user name. (ie: user name: book001, password: book001) Additionally, the default first name and last initial of your students is "Student S." These can both be updated once the student logs into their account, by clicking on Account Info. Once any changes are made, be sure the student clicks Submit to save the change.
